Motorcyclist dies in hit-and run crash in Hesperia; police search for driver

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — Police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect who fled the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday.

It happened at about 7:50 pm, just west of the intersection of Main Street and Cottonwood Avenue in Hesperia.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they located a black and silver Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 down in the no.1 westbound lane and the rider several feet away.

Despite life-saving measures, the motorcyclist, an adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sgt. Hubbard with the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station told Victor Valley News, an unknown type vehicle pulled out from the parking lot in the south-west corner and directly in front of the motorcycle.

“The motorcycle collided with the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene with no regard for the rider’s condition,” stated Hubbard.

According to Hubbard, they are currently searching for a white SUV type vehicle with some type of damage to the front and/or the left side of the vehicle.

A stretch of Main Street between Maple Avenue and Cottonwood Avenue will remain closed for several hours as the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) processes the scene.

The identity of the deceased male is pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone who might have witnessed the crash or with any information is urged to contact Sgt. Hubbard with the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760)947-1500.

This is a developing story and information will be updated as it becomes available.
