Motorcyclist Airlifted After Suspected DUI Driver Turns In Front of Him

HESPERIA, Calif. ( – A motorcycle rider was critically injured when a suspected DUI driver turned left in front of him.

The crash was reported at 2:13 PM on Monday, March 4, 2024, on Mariposa Road and Maple Avenue.

According to officials, a black 4-door 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora was traveling southbound on Mariposa Road when the female driver turned left in front of the black 2007 SUZUKI GSX-R750, which was traveling northbound.

The impact caused the motorcycle to veer into a parked Jeep SUV in the lot of the Pacific Eye Institute.

Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived on the scene and located the rider with critical injuries, prompting firefighters to request a helicopter.

The helicopter landed at Desert Valley Hospital, where the man was transported by ambulance, and then further airlifted to a trauma center.

Deputies with the Hesperia Police Department performed a field sobriety test on the female driver of the black sedan, then promptly placed her into handcuffs following the test.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Hesperia Police Department. No further details were available at the time of publishing, please check back for updates.
