Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation Scheduled In Hesperia On May 6

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The Hesperia Police Department will conduct a motorcycle safety enforcement operation on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with officers deployed throughout the day to monitor violations by both drivers and motorcycle riders.

According to a written statement, officers will focus on the primary causes of motorcycle-related crashes, including unsafe speed, improper turning, right-of-way violations, driving under the influence, and unsafe lane changes.

Authorities noted that speeding remains the leading factor, accounting for nearly one-third of all motorcycle crashes statewide.

Officials are reminding the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines to help reduce the risk of collisions and serious injuries.

Drivers are encouraged to double-check mirrors and blind spots for motorcycles, use turn signals when changing lanes, maintain a safe following distance, and allow adequate space when making turns at intersections.

Motorcyclists are advised to wear DOT-compliant helmets and protective gear, consider using reflective materials to increase visibility, keep headlights on at all times, and avoid assuming other drivers can see them. Riders should also signal well in advance when changing lanes and remain cautious of turning vehicles. While lane splitting is legal in California, authorities caution against doing so at high speeds in free-flowing traffic.

Funding for the enforcement program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
