
SAN BERNARDINO: Deputies from the Central Station arrested Summer Collras, 36, San Bernardino, for Child Endangerment on January 1, 2014.
According to a press release, Collras called the sheriff’s department early Wednesday morning to report she arrived home and found her 10-year old child was missing.
Deputy R. Cook responded to the 24800 block of 5th Street in San Bernardino to conduct an investigation, it was determined that Collras left her child with two transients whom she associates with so she could go out to celebrate the New Year. During the investigation, deputies learned that Collras provided little to no supervision over the child.
The child was last seen at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. When Collras arrived home both adults and the child were gone.
Additional resources from the sheriff’s department such as a K-9 (bloodhound) unit and the sheriff’s helicopter were called in to assist with the search. After approximately 14 hours of being missing, the child was found by deputies on 5th Street as he was walking home. He was unharmed and in good health. He told investigators he stayed the night at a friend’s house.
Collras was taken into custody without incident and the 10-year old child was placed in the care of the Department of Children’s Services.
