MISSING: 16-year-old Chinese student visiting Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — The Hesperia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 16-year-old visiting from China.

The student, Yuping Guo, traveled with a group to the United States for a four-day visit.

She arrived in the United States on January 16, 2020 and was staying at the host family residence in Hesperia, California.

Sheriff’s officials said the group was expected to spend two days in the High Desert and two more days in the Los Angeles area before traveling back to China.

Detectives believe Guo left the Hesperia home during the early morning hours (between 1:30-5:00 a.m.) on Friday, January 17th.

Sheriff’s officials said, “there is no evidence of foul play and Detectives believe Guo is a voluntary missing person.”

Guo’s primary language is Chinese Mandarin, but she does speak limited English. She is described as very outgoing and approachable. She is 5’4″, 130 lbs., black hair, and dark eyes.

She left the home with her cellphone and passport but left her luggage bag behind.
