Man with gunshot wound showed up at Victorville hospital

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Hesperia Police are investigating a shooting after a man showed up to Victor Valley Global Medical Center with a gunshot wound Sunday night.

On October 13, 2019, at about 8:28 am, sheriff’s dispatch received a call from hospital staff in regards to a male in the ER with a gunshot wound to his hand and abdomen.

Deputies responded to the hospital and after interviewing the victim they discovered the incident occurred in the City of Hesperia.

According to spokesman Edgar Moran, the victim stated he and his girlfriend were walking northbound in the 11100 block of Hesperia Road when they were approached by two unknown Hispanic male subjects wearing dark-colored hooded sweaters.

“The subjects demanded the victim’s wallet and pulled out a silver and black handgun. The victim grabbed the gun to avoid getting shot. The subject then pulled the trigger and shot the suspect in the hand; the bullet entered through the palm, exited through the wrist, and lodged itself in the victim’s abdomen,” stated Moran.

Moran said the victim then stated he and his girlfriend were picked up by a friend and taken to the hospital. “Deputies then went to the area were the victim was shot but no evidence was located.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at 760-947-1500.
