Man that Lost His Life in Sunday Evening Deep Creek Shooting Identified

APPLE VALLEY-(VVNG.com): The man who lost his life near the Deep Creek Spillway shooting on Sunday, June 21, 2015 has been identified.

Steve Bangs, a 43-year-old Hesperia resident was found deceased in his vehicle at the end of Deep Creek Road following an altercation that lead to gunfire.

“He was a good man he helped me out a few times a fellow offroader and friend,” said Robert McAlpine.

According to witnesses, the incident began with an argument because of what was believed to be reckless driving on the part of one of the parties.  The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene to conduct a Homicide investigation.

Through investigation, investigators have determined that there were over 200 persons in and around the area at the time of the shooting. Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area earlier in the day, or at the time of the shooting.
