Man Shot in Victorville Dies, 2 Suspects Arrested

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) 20-year-old Kalon Dawson of Victorville died after he was gunned down in front of a liquor store Saturday afternoon.

On April 15, 2017 at approximately 7:20 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Sheriff’s Station responded to 15517 Village Drive, in front of Brothers Liquor.

Deputies located Kalon Dawson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and transported him to Victor Valley Global Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:56 p.m., officials confirmed.

After homicide detectives reviewed surveillance and interviewed witnesses, descriptions provided by witness accounts and surveillance led detectives to their suspect.

At 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning, detectives made contact with a family staying at the motel next to the liquor store.

During the contact, deputies located two subjects matching the description of the suspects. The subjects were identified as Eric Walton, 18, a resident of Adelanto and a 17-year-old male of Victorville, Sheriff’s officials said.

Walton and the juvenile were searched, and a gun was located. Both were arrested without incident inside a room at the Motel Village.

“A search warrant was authored for the motel room for evidence related to the homicide. Walton and the juvenile were interviewed. After the search warrant and interviews, Walton and the juvenile were arrested.” Sheriff’s said in a press release.

Walton was booked at HDDC for PC 187(a)-Murder and the juvenile was booked at the Juvenile Detention Center in Apple Valley for PC 187(a)-Murder.

No bail amount has been set for Walton.
