
ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) A man attempting to make a payment on his storage unit was held at gunpoint and robbed for $7,500 as he exited his vehicle.
The victim, an adult male, pulled into the Ball Park Storage parking lot in the 16000 block of Adelanto Road Thursday morning.
“As he exited his vehicle, a gray Scion TC with red paper dealer plates immediately parked in front of the victim’s vehicle, boxing him in,” sheriff’s officials said.
Mychal Payne, 27, a resident of Riverside exited the passenger side of the Scion and approached the victim’s vehicle.
“Payne pointed a black handgun at the victim and told him to give him the money bag or he would shoot him. Payne took the money bag and fled the scene in the gray Scion TC with another black male adult,” stated sheriff’s spokeswoman Staci Parks.
After locating the suspect vehicle, deputies witnessed Mychal Payne and the driver Ricky Stinson, 27, from Adelanto running from the scene.
Payne was tased by a deputy due to resisting arrest and was eventually booked without further incident. Stinson was positively identified by witnesses as being the second suspect.
Inside the suspect vehicle, deputies located a black Ruger LCP .380 handgun (stolen out of the City of Torrance) and the victim’s bank documents and personal belongings were located. All of the victim’s property was returned to him. Deputies recovered all but approximately $50.00 of the stolen cash.
Mychal Payne and Ricky Stinson were booked at the High Desert Detention Center. Mychal Payne is being held without bail on a parole hold. Ricky Stinson is being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
