Man Involved in Wednesday Morning Fatal Hit-and-Run Identified

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): The motorcycle rider that lost his life on the morning of Wednesday, October 14th at about 6:30 a.m. on Highway 138 has been identified by family and friends as 46-year-old Wrightwood resident, Matthew Mark Van Vacter.
It is believed that Van Vacter was traveling eastbound on State Route 138 when he attempted to slow down and maneuver around vehicles ahead of him. Van Vacter lost control and was ejected from his motorcycle leaving him lying in westbound lanes. A vehicle heading westbound, according to CHP officials, hit the Van Vacter and fled the scene.
Kyle Martin, said this on a Victor Valley News article comment:
“If anyone has any information about this please contact the CHP number in article. This was my moms BF of three years. Any information is helpful if you were there or saw anything please call . And thank you for all the prayers and thoughts . Matt was such a wonderful person and a great friend to me and my family , words can not describe how this loss has crushed us . You will be very deeply missed Matt.”
Van Vacter was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Witnesses are urged to contact the San Bernardino CHP office at (909) 383-4247. This collision is still under investigation.
