NIPTON, Calif. (VVNG.com) Detectives have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found dead along the I-15 freeway Sunday afternoon.
At about 4:44 p.m. deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to Nipton Road and Interstate 15 for a report of a body found in the area.
According to scanner traffic, dispatch received a call reporting a man lying under a bush with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his head.
When deputies arrived they located a black male adult deceased at the scene.
“Due to the suspicious circumstances, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail were requested and are conducting the investigation. Detectives determined the man was the victim of a homicide,” stated a Monday afternoon sheriff’s news release.
Investigators believe the victim had ties to San Bernardino County as well as Southern Nevada.
