VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com)- Authorities have confirmed the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Bear Valley Road Tuesday night has died as a result of his injuries.
On January 31, 2017 at approximately 7:47 p.m., Victorville deputies were dispatched to a report of an unknown-injury traffic collision that occurred on Bear Valley Rd near Amargosa Rd the City of Victorville.
Through investigation it was discovered that a pickup truck, driven by Benjamin Villasenor, 20, a resident of Victorville was traveling westbound on Bear Valley Rd, west of Amargosa Rd.
A 24-year-old Victorville man crossed Bear Valley Rd in the path of the pickup truck and was struck by the truck. The name of the involved pedestrian is being withheld, pending next-of-kin notification by the San Bernardino County Coroner.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries as a result of the traffic collision and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The driver of the pickup truck and his passengers did not sustain any injuries.
Deputies are still investigating whether speed or alcohol played a factor in this collision.
Bear Valley Rd was closed to traffic in both directions in the area of the collision until approximately 3:00 a.m. This is an ongoing investigation by the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
