VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) A man shot outside the Wimbledon Luxury Apartments in Victorville died from his injuries, a family member confirmed.
About 1:43 p.m., officers responded to the 16950 block of Jasmine Street where they found shell casings near the entrance of the complex.
The victim, identified by family as Rodney Mosby Jr., had been shot three times and managed to run across the street to the nearby Bingo hall where he collapsed.
Mosby was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center, but despite life-saving-measures, he was pronounced deceased.
“He was visiting his mom at the apartment complex and told them he would be right back, but he never came back,” the victim’s uncle John Osborne told Victor Valley News.
“He never made it off the operating table. All this crime is just so senseless, not only for my family but for the suspect’s family too. My nephew just had a baby,” said his uncle in disbelief.
According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez, authorities have detained a male in relation to today’s shooting but did not provide further details.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the motive for the shooting. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
