DEVORE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man died after being swept away by floodwaters late Tuesday night in the Cajon Pass, authorities confirmed.
The incident, dubbed “Keenbrook,” was first reported at 11:23 p.m. on February 17, 2026, near Glen Helen Road and Keenbrook Road in Devore.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, the vehicle was being taken away by water.
San Bernardino County Fire (SBCoFD) responded to reports of a vehicle that had attempted to cross a flooded roadway.
Firefighters located a full-size pickup truck surrounded by active water and the male standing on the roof.
While rescue crews were working to access the scene, the vehicle shifted in the moving water, and the man was swept away, prompting an immediate search effort.
According to CHP logs, the victim was described as a White adult male wearing a brown jacket and black pants.
In an update issued just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, fire officials said an adult male matching the description of the missing subject was located deceased downstream from the point where he was last seen.
“Search efforts have concluded and all parties have been accounted for,” stated fire officials.
Sheriff’s helicopter 40King assisted in locating the victim.
Just before 9:30 a.m., the San Bernardino County Coroner arrived at the scene, according to the logs.
The identity of the deceased male has not been released and will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
