Man dies after being shot near his home in Hesperia
HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man died after he was shot in Hesperia Saturday evening following an altercation near his home.
At 5:47 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a call of a fight involving several subjects in the street near Third Avenue and Yucca Street in the city of Hesperia, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Cindy Bachman told Victor Valley News.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing 7-10 gunshots about 10 minutes after the fight ended.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found a male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a corner dirt lot adjacent to the J and K’s Feed and Vet Supplies store.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was transported to Desert Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

“I’m assuming the police had been in the area already because of the fight, because seconds after the gunshots, they had police everywhere,” said a witness.
Two patrol vehicles were parked behind a black Chrysler sedan that had crashed through a backyard fence of a home on Santa Fe Avenue, a couple of miles away from the shooting. At this time it’s unknown if the vehicle is connected with the shooting.
The sheriff’s aviation helicopter responded to assist as ground deputies searched for the suspects within a large-perimeter that was established.
Sheriff’s officials have not confirmed if any arrests has been made.
A friend of the victim told VVNG the victim leaves behind a young boy and that his girlfriend is pregnant with their second child.
Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Hesperia Police Department at 760-947-1500.
Additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
