Man Dies after accident Behind Mall

Victorville- On Monday January 6th, 2014, calls were made to dispatch reporting a single vehicle in the dry wash bed, located behind the Sears at the Mall of Victor Valley.

Upon arrival of first responders, one male victim was initially reported as deceased, but moments later a pulse was detected as medical personal rendered treatment.

Both victims were transported to hospitals, one patient via Mercy Air and the other patient by ground ambulance.

Marlon Patterson, age 23 of San Bernardino, later succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the second victim is unknown at this time.

“Marlon was a good man, he loved being with his kids. He was a fun person to hang out with and  a smart man,” stated a friend of Marlon.

Marlon leaves behind his three young children; Marlon Jr., age 6, Maliah, age 4 and Isaiah, 18 months old.

It is unclear why the vehicle detoured off of Mall Boulevard and ended up in the rugged terrain of the wash. An un-gated entrance to the wash that detectives taped off at the scene, is believed to have been the entrance point.

Detectives are investigating the incident  to determine the exact cause of the accident and have not made any further details available at this time.
