ADELANTO:(VVNG.com)- A 67-year-old man from Needles identified as Ronnie Herndon was arrested for felony spousal abuse on his wife.
On Monday, March 29, 2016, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a female called to report her husband physically beat her during an argument while they were at the Desert Oasis Rest Area on Highway 40 in Newberry Springs.
Authorities say, Herndon, was reportedly armed with a handgun and fled south on the freeway, leaving her at the rest area. Deputy Robbie Moore responded to investigate.
Moore was able to determine Herndon was most likely on his way to the Adelanto area and coordinated with Deputies from the Victor Valley station in Adelanto. Deputies located Herndon at the Maverick Stadium parking lot and arrested him without incident. A handgun was recovered.
The victim received substantial head and facial injuries but refused medical treatment in the field. Herndon was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Spousal Abuse. His bail is $50,000.00.
Anyone with additional information, or who might have seen this incident unfold, is urged to call Deputy Robbie Moore or Sergeant James Evans at the Barstow Sheriff’s Station.
