HESPERIA-(VVNG.com): On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at approximately 12:06 a.m., deputies of the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault on the 17900 block of Bangor Avenue.
The female victim was reportedly struck in the head with a baseball bat and was bleeding from her head. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Hesperia resident David Bailon, was reported to be the victim’s boyfriend.
Deputies arrived to find the suspect already fled the location in the victim’s 2012 Ford Fusion. Bailon, who was still armed with the bat and a knife, was believed to be heading to his mother’s home on Arabian Court in Hesperia.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by ground for treatment of her injuries.
At around 2:26 a.m. the suspect was located driving west on Main Street near C Avenue. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect failed to yield leading deputies on a pursuit.
The suspect entered the 15 freeway south, merged onto the 215 FWY and continued onto the 91 FWY at speeds up to 100 miles per hour until the vehicle the suspect was driving ran out of fuel in Corona. Bailon reportedly was in contact with dispatch at least through part of the pursuit, unconfirmed reports stating that he asked about the condition of the victim.
Suspect David Bailon was arrested and taken into custody without further incident. Bailon was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking and felony evading with disregard for public safety. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon for an arraignment hearing.
