HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in the early hours of February 24, 2024, on Main Street in Hesperia.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Jaime E. Munguia, 34, of Palm Springs, was fatally injured when multiple vehicles hit him on Main Street, between Escondido Avenue and Pyrite Avenue.

Emergency services at the place of the accident

Munguia was familiar with the area, as documented in a previous article, which bears a chilling similarity to this recent tragedy.

According to an article from the SBSun, Munguia had a brush with danger in the same vicinity. The report from August 18, 2010, states that Munguia, then 21, narrowly avoided being hit by vehicles as he ran into a busy street to evade arrest. Eventually falling and injuring himself, he was apprehended by law enforcement. That incident unfolded mere blocks from where Munguia lost his life this morning.

Main Street, the site of the fatal accident

According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez, at least one of the drivers involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

Main Street was closed for several hours as deputies with the Hesperia Police Department investigated.

The Hesperia Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward. No further details were immediately available.

Deputies were investigating on Main Street.
