

Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to a shots fired call at residence in the 11000 block of Winterhawk Way on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at approximately 1:57 p.m. Upon arriving at the incident location, deputies found Stone “Robert” Paul, 18 years old, deceased inside the location with apparent gunshot wounds.
Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail responded to assist with the investigation. Detectives learned Paul was residing at the incident location with Derrick Hill, 45 years old of Apple Valley. Hill is suspected of shooting Paul to death for unknown reasons.
As a result of the investigation, Hill was arrested for PC 187 (Murder) and is currently being held at the Victor Valley jail, without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
As a safety precaution schools in the surrounding area around in Apple Valley were placed on a brief lock-down. Worried faculty members, parents, and students took to social media to communicate with people outside of the school. The lock down was removed at about 2pm.
In another un-related incident Hesperia school district placed three campuses on lock down at about the same time due to reports of shots heard in the area. Here’s the link to the article, Hesperia Schools Placed on Lock Down.
