SANTA ANA(VVNG.com)– An Apple Valley man was sentenced today to eight years in state prison for trafficking, pimping and pandering a 17-year-old girl.
29-year-old Stephon Deshaun Collier, pleaded guilty to a court offer to one felony count each of human trafficking of a minor, pandering with a minor over 16 years old by procuring, and pimping a minor, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
Collier is a human trafficker/pimp who exploits women and/or children for financial gain. Pimps often establish rigid rules that their victims are expected to follow including requiring setting daily quotas that the victims are expected to fulfill. The victims are required to turn over all payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp.
On Sept. 16, 2013, Collier trafficked 17-year-old Jane Doe by persuading and procuring her to unlawfully solicit commercial sex from men on an Anaheim street in an area known for prostitution. The defendant then collected the money the victim was paid for performing commercial sex acts. An Anaheim Police Department (APD) patrol officer made contact with Jane Doe on the street and began investigating this case. The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) further investigated this case and was able to locate the defendant’s residency. On Sept. 18, 2013, OCHTTF arrested Collier in Apple Valley.
Members of OCHTTF and the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) Office work proactively to protect women and minors from falling victim to commercial sexual exploitation. This case was investigated by OCHTTF, a partnership between APD, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Huntington Beach Police Department, OCDA, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and community and non-profit partners.
Deputy District Attorney Daniel Varon of the HEAT Unit prosecuted this case.
