APPLE VALLEY-(VVNG.com): A family is devastated to find that through all that a San Bernardino County Firefighter Engineer/Paramedic, Cory Norton has been through in his profession he now has a new battle to fight.

Norton, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department officials has been working with the fire department for nearly 10 years and has been recently diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. Through his nearly 10 year service he worked in Phelan, Helendale, Yucca Valley, Hesperia and Victorville.

Cancer is a looming and personal catastrophe for each and every firefighter. The most dangerous—and still under-recognized—threat to the health and safety of those in our profession, this disease has struck home once again,” they said on the San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters Local 935 Facebook page it said.

The form of cancer, which was not disclosed, is believed to be caused by his profession. “He isn’t receiving any financial help through work considering its work related,” said his friend, fellow firefighter, Darrell Feuerhahn on his go fund me account. Feuerhahn said that Norton is hardworking, always providing for his wife and two young children. He is rallying for support for his friend now to help this fireman to support his family while they go through this fight.

“I have an incredible family that are keeping me held high. I just please ask you all that believe, pray for me! And keep praying it will help,” posted Norton on a Facebook post.

If you would like to donate to help this family through this difficult time, there is a gfund me set up on their behalf. The Fire Department officials also said, via Facebook, “One thing is certain as Cory begins his fight: he and his family will not battle cancer alone. The fire service is a brotherhood and we take care of our own when times are tough.”
