DUMONT DUNES, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The San Bernardino County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal off-road crash in Dumont Dunes as 45-year-old Levi R. Fackrell, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The incident occurred on November 10, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, when officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Barstow Area responded to reports of a traffic accident within the Dumont Dunes off-highway vehicle area in unincorporated San Bernardino County.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered that Fackrell was driving a 2020 Jeep Gladiator northbound in the Dumont Dunes region at an undetermined speed. The vehicle was carrying three additional passengers: a 41-year-old woman and two juveniles, aged 8 and 7, all from Las Vegas.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the Jeep, which veered off a steep dirt embankment. The front of the vehicle struck the ground before it overturned onto its roof. Emergency responders pronounced Fackrell dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash.
The other passengers were treated for minor injuries and transported to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas.
At this time, authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact Officer W. Benson at the California Highway Patrol Barstow Area office at (760) 255-5900.
