Kaiser the New Tenant For the Old Victorville Target?

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): Victor Valley residents have been spreading the word that Kaiser Permanente has acquired the old Target building located at 15321 Palmdale Road. Kaiser Permanente Spokeswoman, Jennifer Silvestri told Victor Valley News on Tuesday that this information is inaccurate and this has been rumored since November 2015 when the Target store closing was announced. The Kaiser Medical office building is headquartered in the 14000 block of Park Avenue, about 1 block away from the current Target location.
The Victorville Target was one of the dozens of stores nationwide that closed this year due to being one of the lower performing stores. Target Spokeswoman, Kristy Welker told Victor Valley News in November, “The decision to close a Target store is not made lightly. We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location. Typically, the decision to close a store is as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability.”
When asked if Kaiser Permanente is considering the purchase of the old Target building, Silvestri only would say that no purchase has been made. On Monday morning, Target employee, Eric Bloomfield told Victor Valley News that the building is still currently owned by Target, who is clearing out the space in order to sell the property.
Kaiser did not say they are not considering the future purchase of the building, but did say that the rumors saying that they have made the purchase are false. In November Silvestri said,“We are aware of the need for mental health services across the High Desert, and are exploring our options for the ongoing need and provision of those services.”
So, for now, all bets are still on for what will become of the old Target Store location. What would you like to see there?
