HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two males riding non-motorized scooters down a dark street were struck by a vehicle Sunday night.
It happened just before 10:00 pm, in the 15000 block of Mauna Loa Street, just east of Cottonwood Avenue in Hesperia.
According to Sheriff’s Service Specialist Edgar Moran, a 1998 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Mauna Loa Street approaching Cottonwood Avenue when it struck two pedestrians that were riding scooters in the roadway near the north shoulder.
“The pedestrians were not wearing a reflective vest or reflective gear,” stated Moran.

One pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for a head injury; the other pedestrian was flown down the hill to a medical center also for a head injury.
Both pedestrians ages 20 and 32, were conscious and talking to deputies while at the scene.
Correction: The incident involved two adult males and not juveniles as previously reported.
