Jeff Bragg Recognized as Outstanding Teacher of the Month by Assemblyman Obernolte

HESPERIA, Calif. (news release) – Assemblyman Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia) honored Jeff Bragg from Victor Elementary School District as his outstanding teacher for the month of October. Jeff consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty for his students and their families. He is the epitome of the VESD motto, “Learning for all…Whatever it takes.”

Mr. Bragg started his career as an elementary school teacher for the Victor Elementary School District in 1997. Within the school district he has taught at both Lomitas Elementary and Green Tree East. In 2014, he transitioned to his current position as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher. In this position, he works with students with physical and intellectual impairments to ensure they get exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, Jeff is a huge proponent of physical fitness and team sports. He plays on the district’s softball and football teams every year in the High Desert Fitness Challenge.

“Jeff deserves recognition for dedicating his career to helping the students who need it most,” said Assemblyman Obernolte. “It takes a special person to educate children with developmental disabilities and Jeff excels at working with these kids. It’s an honor to recognize him as my outstanding teacher of the month.”

Downed Power Lines Blocking Arrowhead Lake Rd in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Downed power lines are blocking a stretch of busy Arrowhead Lake Road near Randall Road in Hesperia.

At about 5:22 PM on August 11th San Bernardino County Fire responded to the scene and located the snapped utility pole with low hanging high-tension wires across the roadway. Firefighters requested law enforcement to expedite to the scene and shut down the roadway

Southern California Edison will respond to complete the repairs and at this time it’s unknown how long the roadway will remain closed for. According to CHP incident logs, officials are providing traffic control.

Man found dead at High Desert Inn Motel in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Police said no foul play was suspected after a man was found dead at the High Desert Inn.

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, at approximately 1:02 a.m., deputies responded to High Desert Inn, located at 14320 Main Street, in reference to a medical aid call.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Taylor Reynolds said A 59-year-old male was found unresponsive at the incident location. “Deputies did not discover any signs of foul play,” stated Reynolds.

The spokeswoman said the investigation is being handled by the Coroner’s Division and had no other information available for release.

Motorcycle crash shuts down 15 Freeway in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A motorcycle crash briefly shut down the 15 freeway Saturday afternoon in Hesperia.

The crash was reported at 6:10 p.m., August 8th, 2020, on the northbound 15 Freeway between Oak Hill Road and Ranchero Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, a motorcycle rider was struck by a vehicle.

The impact sent the bike into the right hand shoulder of northbound 15 freeway and the rider into the center divider.

CHP logs reported that at least 8 motorcycles pulled into the center divider while 15-20 motorcycle riders stopped in lanes of traffic after the crash.

Northbound and southbound traffic of the 15 freeway was briefly stopped while a helicopter landed on scene.

The motorcycle rider was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.

There were no other injuries reported. The freeway was reopened at 6:45 p.m.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. This is a developing story with no further details currently available.
