BIG BEAR, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Jackie has laid the second egg of her second clutch in the Big Bear nest, continuing a hopeful new chapter for the beloved bald eagle pair.
According to Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV), the egg arrived Friday evening, February 27, 2026, at 5:55:33 p.m. camera time.
“Jackie did great and is now dozing off while keeping her 2 eggs nice and cozy,” FOBBV shared in a post.
The new egg comes three days after Jackie laid the first egg of the second clutch on February 24. A clutch refers to the group of eggs laid during a single nesting cycle.
Earlier Friday morning, FOBBV provided insight into the pair’s incubation behavior over the past several days.

“The past couple of days have been smooth and Jackie and Shadow covered the egg almost the entire day after it was laid,” the organization wrote. “Then yesterday, they seemed to be delaying incubation as they did with their three eggs last season. This is done to allow all eggs in the clutch to hatch closer together, giving the younger chick a better chance of survival.”
FOBBV also noted that Jackie has consistently laid her eggs three days apart. “So if she is expecting a 3rd egg, we can watch for that Monday,” the group stated.

The second clutch follows the loss of the pair’s first clutch in late January, when a raven breached the nest and damaged both eggs.
Jackie and Shadow continue to be monitored through the live Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam, drawing thousands of viewers watching closely for signs of a possible third egg.
