IRS extends tax filing one more day after site crashes

CALIFORNIA ( — Uncle Sam delivered many procrastinators a tax-free extension to file those last-minute tax returns! That’s right, you officially have one extra day to file those last-minute tax returns. So you can officially stop stressing for one more night.

The IRS extended the tax-filing deadline for all filers to midnight Wednesday, April 18, due to a glitch with the agency’s website, according to a tweet from The Associated Press.

Taxpayers were left scrambling and confused as to what to do after the Internal Revenue Service website crashed and prevented people from filing returns electronically by Tuesday’s deadline.
