Investigation launched after in-custody death in Adelanto

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 49-year-old Adelanto man jailed at the High Desert Detention Center early Wednesday.
It happened on August 22, 2018, at about 5:20 am, when deputies responded to the facility regarding a report of an inmate who was not breathing and unresponsive.
Upon arrival, deputies found Scott Purdy on his bunk, not breathing, officials said.
“Deputies attempted life-saving measures until paramedics and fire personnel arrived on scene and pronounced Purdy deceased,” stated a sheriff’s news release.
