Inmates involved in multiple fights at Victorville US Penitentiary Monday

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Officials at the United States Penitentiary (USP) in Victorville are investigating three separate fights that occurred between multiple inmates on Monday.

According to a news release, “Staff immediately responded and secured the areas. No staff or inmates were injured during the incident. The inmate population was secured in their housing units, and the institution was placed on limited operational status.”

An internal investigation is ongoing and the institution will return to full operational status as soon as possible.

Officials said no staff or other inmates were injured during the incidents, and at no time was the public in danger. 

The USP is a high security facility within the Federal Correctional Complex that currently houses 1,343 male offenders in Victorville, CA.
