Inmate hospitalized after attack inside Victorville prison Wednesday

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — An inmate at the United States Penitentiary (USP) in Victorville was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after an assault Wednesday afternoon.

On February 19, 2020, at about 3:45 pm, prison personnel responded to the incident and immediately initiated life-saving measures on the injured inmate.

Officials said the inmate was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

An update on the condition of the inmate was not provided.

Prison officials said the institution was placed on a limited operational status until further notice.

No staff or other inmates were injured and at no time was the public in danger.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified. 

USP Victorville is a high security facility within the Federal Correctional Complex in Victorville, California, which currently houses 1,341 male offenders.
