I-15 SB Temporarily Closed North of SR-138; SR-138 Also Shut Down at Lone Pine Canyon Road

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — All southbound lanes of Interstate 15 north of State Route 138 were temporarily shut down Wednesday morning, December 24, 2025, for mud and debris cleanup, according to a traffic advisory from the California Highway Patrol.

CHP advised that as of 9:54 a.m., all lanes of I-15 southbound north of SR-138 were closed, asking motorists to find an alternate route and stating that roadways will reopen when it is safe to do so.

In a separate traffic advisory issued at 10:00 a.m., CHP reported that State Route 138 was shut down in both directions at Lone Pine Canyon Road due to a downed power pole.

“Please expect delays. Crews are hard at work to reopen the roads,” CHP stated in the advisory.

The closures come amid ongoing storm-related impacts in the Cajon Pass area, where excessive mud, debris, and infrastructure damage have affected multiple roadways.

CHP incident logs earlier in the morning noted flooding, clogged drains, and debris extending across lanes and shoulders, prompting staged closures and traffic breaks as Caltrans and CHP crews responded.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes while cleanup and repair operations continue. No estimated time for reopening was immediately available.
