BAKER, Calif. (VVNG.com) — An overnight snowstorm prompted a closure of the I-15 freeway that lasted for several hours near the community of Baker.
At about 5:00 am, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, Caltrans District 8 officials confirmed the closure on the southbound I-15 Mountain Pass and said all lanes were blocked due to a stuck big rig.
Photos shared with VVNG from motorists stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic showed the roadway covered in snow and slush.
On the northbound I-15, the no.3 lane remained open, while all other lanes were closed. A motorist told VVNG he was stuck for over two hours.
By 8:45 am, Caltrans District 8 officials confirmed both directions of travel had reopened.
According to the National Weather Service, after several days of constant rain, the bulk of our storm has passed.
