VICTOR VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) –With the holiday’s officially over its time to dispose of that old Christmas Tree.
Getting rid of your tree is simple and you won’t even have to leave home. Each city offers different options to dispose of your tree for free, on your regular scheduled trash collection day, below you will find a detailed list.
Approximately 80% of holiday trash is recyclable. All gift boxes, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and cardboard packaging are items that may be placed in the blue recycling barrel.
What to do first:
- Remove all decorations, stands, wires, nails, etc. from your tree.
- Cut in half any trees that are over six-feet tall in length.
- Do not put your tree in plastic bags, in the trash or in the recycle cart.
AVCO will collect your Christmas trees placed at the curb on your scheduled collection day beginning December 26th and will continue for approximately two weeks on your regular collection day.
Please note: No flocked trees, artificial trees or plastic bags will be accepted as part of the tree recycling requirements.
Burrtec will collect and recycle Christmas trees from single-family residences. Residents are advised to place their tree at curbside during a 2-week period after Christmas Day on your collection day.
Burrtec will collect excess holiday trash and recyclables for a one-week period after Christmas Day. Single-family residences may place excess holiday trash/recyclables in bags alongside their containers on collection day.
Beginning January 2, 2019, and continuing for a four (4) week period, Advanced Disposal will pick up your Christmas tree at your curb on your trash collection day for no additional cost.
Another option for Christmas tree recycling is for residents to take their Christmas trees directly to Advance Disposal during the four-week period and place the trees in the roll-off bin marked Christmas Trees Only.
