HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A pedestrian died Thursday night, March 20, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle on Hesperia Road, just south of Bear Valley Road near Donert Street, authorities said.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene at about 8:47 p.m. to find an unresponsive man lying in the roadway.
Witnesses reported that CPR was performed before he was rushed to a hospital in Victorville.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department logs, the man later succumbed to his injuries.
Peter Laureano, a 26-year resident of Hesperia who manages the property at a nearby liquor store, was a witness to the crash. He described the man, known locally as “Oz,” as a homeless individual who frequented the area.
Laureano said the man was attempting to cross the street after finding one liquor store closed, possibly heading to another. He appeared intoxicated at the time, Laureano added.
Laureano also reported that the man was struck by two vehicles, both of which remained at the scene. At least one of the vehicles sustained significant front-end damage, including a shattered windshield and broken headlight.

Hesperia Road was temporarily closed for several hours as authorities investigated the incident.
Residents at the scene, including Laureano, voiced concerns about pedestrian safety in the area, urging the city to install traffic signals and additional lighting, citing several accidents along that stretch of road.

“This area is full of homeless people,” Laureano said. “With two liquor stores nearby and no signal lights to slow traffic, it’s a recipe for disaster.”
The Hesperia Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash. At this time, further details regarding the incident and the involved vehicles have not been released.
