Homeless man arrested for possession of burglary tools in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Deputies arrested a 48-year-old Victorville transient after he was found to be in possession of burglary tools Monday night.

It happened on October 15, 2018, at about 9:27 pm, in the 16800 block of Union Street in Victorville.

A reporting party called 911 and advised they witnessed the suspect, later identified as William Shatto, pulling on the door handle of a locked vehicle, officials said.

Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said, the suspect went to a nearby vehicle and retrieved a bandana from inside and placed it over his face.

According to Rodriguez, “Deputies arrived and found Shatto in possession of handmade tools, commonly used to break into vehicles.”

Shatto was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC466 and later cite and released with no court appearance scheduled, public arrest records showed.

Rodriguez told Victor Valley News, Shatto was arrested and booked in San Bernardino County 3 times in September and 4 times in October.

At the time of this article, a quick glance at public arrest records indicated Shatto was once again in police custody making the 5th time in October.

Shatto was arrested at about 4:00 pm, on October 17, 2018, in the 14200 block of US Highway 395 for Vandalism of $400 or more. He is scheduled for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on October 19th.
