VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities arrested a 27-year-old homeless man for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times during a fight.
It happened at about 7:40 pm on June 18, 2019, in the 15500 block of Hesperia Road in Victorville.
Deputies responded to the location and learned the 35-year-old victim and his girlfriend allowed the suspect, Sergio Martin Pena, to charge his cell phone in their house, officials said.
Pena left the location and returned approximately one hour later.
According to a sheriff’s news release, “he entered the home without permission and began to argue with the victim’s girlfriend. The victim intervened, and he and the suspect began to fight. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso before fleeing.”
A sheriff’s aviation helicopter assisted deputies in the search and located the suspect hiding nearby.
Pena was taken into custody and deputies recovered a knife and screwdriver from his pocket. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.
“The victim was transported to a local hospital. His condition is not known but he was alert and speaking at the scene,” officials said.
