APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man camping and hiking near the Deep Creek hot springs found a human skull over the weekend, officials confirmed.
The shocking discovery was made on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at approximately 4:00 pm, in the county area of Apple Valley.
Sheriff’s officials said, “the reporting party stated he had been hiking and camping in a remote desert area near Deep Creek Hot Springs when he found the skull entangled in the roots of a bush.”
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, were contacted and will be taking over the death investigation.
Officials said a search of the area will be conducted by deputies and search personnel from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station in efforts to locate any additional skeletal remains.
No additional details are currently being released.
