Highland Police searching for armed robbery suspect who shot at clerks

HIGHLAND, Calif. ( – The Highland Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating an armed suspect who shot at two clerks during a robbery, officials said.

On January 8, 2018 Deputies were summoned to the Am/Pm Market located on the corner of 3rd St. and Del Rosa Dr. in the City of Highland after the clerk reported he had been robbed.

According to a news release, the clerk reported a subject entered the store carrying a shoebox and brandishing a pistol. The subject demanded money from the clerk, which he was provided, and then fled the location on foot.

The subject was further described as being dressed in all black clothing, a black hooded jacket and wearing white sunglasses. The subject appeared to be a Hispanic male, 5’2” – 5’4” with a thin or medium build.

Approximately 24 minutes later, another call for service came in at the Valero Gas Station located on the corner of Pacific Street and Victoria Ave. Investigating deputies found out that during a robbery attempt at the location by a subject with the same description as the earlier robbery, and he was also carrying a shoebox. The subject fired several rounds from a pistol at the two clerks who were retreating to a back room. The clerk where not injured.

It was also discovered the San Bernardino Police Department was investigating a similar robbery that had occurred at approximately 6:17 p.m. in the City San Bernardino.
