High-speed pursuit suspect on I-15 freeway gets away

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A pursuit suspect who nearly crashed into a patrol unit managed to evade deputies, officials said.

It happened just before 1:30 am on October 7, 2019, when a grey 4-door sedan ran a red light at the intersection of Nisqualli and Amargosa Roads, nearly colliding with the patrol unit and another car.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the sedan.

“The sedan driver failed to yield and got on the southbound 15 freeway. The driver drove at very high speeds and turned off the vehicle’s lights during the pursuit,” stated Rodriguez.

According to Rodriguez, pursuing deputies lost sight of the sedan and the decision was made to terminate the pursuit near Cleghorn Road.

“Due to the high speed of the sedan and the driver extinguishing the vehicles lights, a license plate number was not obtainable,” stated Rodriguez.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Victorville Police Department at 760-241-2911.
