Supervisor Robert A. Lovingood is seeking enthusiastic high school students, interested in government and community service, who would like to be a part of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC).
Youth Council participants work directly with Supervisor Lovingood to identify and research important and relevant issues. Participation on the council also gives students an opportunity to become involved in their communities and learn about County Government. The Youth Advisory Council Members will also participate in local volunteer activities, meetings and events.
Applications for the Youth Advisory Council are now available for the 2017-18 school year. All high school students in the First District with a GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to apply.
The Youth Advisory Council will meet twice monthly, September 2017 through April 2018, in Victorville. The final meeting will take place at a Board of Supervisor’s meeting in San Bernardino. Students must provide their own transportation to and from meetings.
Students serving on the council are required to attend at least 8 meetings and complete 2 community service activities.
All applications must be submitted by September 11, 2017. For more information or to apply, contact Susan Drake at (760) 995-8100 or email susan.drake@bos.sbcounty.gov.
