Hesperia police searching for suspect who tried to hit victim with a vehicle

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Hesperia police are searching for a 30-year-old male suspect who tried to hit a victim with a vehicle.

It happened on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at about 12:36 am, in the area of Sapphire Avenue and Olive Street in Hesperia.

Deputies responded to the area after receiving reports of 4-5 subjects arguing with each other.

When deputies arrived on scene they learned that Kevin Quiestas and the victim were in a verbal argument, officials said.

“Deputies managed to de-escalate the situation and advised both parties to leave the area to avoid any further conflict; both parties agreed and Deputies left the location,” stated Sheriff’s Service Specialist Edgar Moran.

According to Moran, once deputies left, the victim attempted to cross the street, and Quiestas, who had positioned his vehicle facing northbound on Sapphire Street, hit the accelerator and drove his vehicle at a high rate of speed towards the victim.

Quiestas then swerved his vehicle to the left to attempt to hit the victim and the victim was able to jump out of the street and onto the curb to avoid being hit.

Quiestas then fled the location and his vehicle was found unoccupied on the corner of Ruby Street and Marble Avenue.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760)947-1500.
