Hesperia police investigating two separate attacks

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — Hesperia Police are investigating two separate attacks involving similar circumstances that occurred within miles of one another early Saturday.

The first incident happened on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at about 2:12 am, when deputies responded to reports of subjects shooting at a residence in the 10000 block of Lincoln Avenue in Hesperia.

Sheriff’s spokesman Edgar Moran told Victor Valley News deputies arrived on scene and learned the victims heard sounds coming from outside of the residence near one of their vehicles.

According to Moran, “the victim went out to investigate and as they walked outside, they were attacked by an unknown amount of subjects. One of the victims was hit on the upper left cheekbone; the other victim was hit in the upper right cheekbone. Both victims fell to the ground in a fetal position to protect themselves when they heard two gunshots go off.”

The unidentified suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

“Deputies found a bullet entry in the upper right-hand side of the garage, but neither victim were able to confirm if the bullet hole had been there prior to the incident and no handgun was seen by either victim,” stated Moran.

Approximately 1-hour later at 3:24 am, and about 3 miles away from the first attack, Hesperia deputies were dispatched to the ARCO on the 12700 block of Main Street reference a strong arm robbery.

According to Moran, through investigation Deputy Flores learned the victim left his RV and walked on foot to the ARCO.

As the victim approached the west side of the ARCO building near the dumpster, he was approached by an unknown subject.

“The subject asked the victim for a cigarette; the victim told the subject he did not have one. It was then when the subject punched the victim in the right eye with a closed fist,” stated Moran.

The victim then stated that approximately 3-4 males then started to punch him all at once.

“When the victim stood up after the subjects fled, he noticed his black leather wallet containing approximately $110.00 was taken along with a credit card and California Driver’s license,” stated Moran.

The victim stated the subject appeared to be a Hispanic male who was wearing grey sweatpants.

Moran said right now it’s unknown if it’s the same suspects in both incidents.
