Hesperia police arrest man accused of lying about vehicle being stolen

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — A 26-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for perjury after he allegedly falsified a GTA report, officials said.

Jason Cervantes contacted police on December 28, 2019, just before 9:00 pm reference a Grand Theft Auto, officials said.

According to a sheriff’s spokesperson Taylor Reynolds with the Hesperia station, Jason Cervantes signed documentation stating his reporting statements were true and accurate.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that Cervantes lied about his vehicle being stolen,” statedReynolds.

Cervantes was arrested and transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for 118(a). He was released from custody the following day and has no scheduled court appearance.
