Hesperia Police arrest energy drink bandit wanted since 2017

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — An energy drink bandit sought by police for over two years was arrested on Tuesday, officials said.

The suspect, Kendale Rafael Hicks, 28, a resident of Barstow was booked into High Desert Detention Center for Robbery and Retail Theft on August 13, 2019.

According to a sheriff’s news release, at about 6:32 am Deputy Espiritu observed a known suspect vehicle, a white Kia Optima with no plates and missing the gas cover, in the area of Eucalyptus Street and Oakwood Avenue in Hesperia.

The deputy recognized the occupant of the vehicle as Hicks. 

“Hicks’ was involved in multiple energy drink thefts from various locations in the Cities of Victorville, Hesperia and Barstow. The crime span dates back to as early as 2017,” stated the release.

Officials said Hicks was wanted on three active felony warrants for his arrest stemming from several thefts.

Hicks is expected to be arraigned on August 15, 2019, in Victorville Superior Court.
