Hesperia Man Arrested in Grand Theft Auto Investigation

HESPERIA-(VVNG.com):  A 33-year-old Hesperia man was arrested on Thursday, August 13th as a result of a grand theft investigation. The incident began on August 6th at approximately 11:00 p.m. when suspect Richard Michael Gerrie made contact with a female victim leading her to believe that he was her cousin.

The following day, the victim noticed that her keys were missing and her vehicle had been stolen. Early investigations determined that Gerrie was the suspect in the theft. The stolen vehicle was located just days later on August 10th at 11:32 a.m. in the 18000 block of Larkspur Road in Adelanto.

Suspect Gerrie was the passenger of a vehicle pulled over during an 11:30 a.m. traffic stop on Thursday, August 13 by deputies from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division in the city of Hesperia. When the stop was made, Gerrie was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

Gerrie was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center on charges of grand theft auto, felon in possession of a loaded and operable handgun and an outstanding warrant. Gang enhancements will be sought. Gerrie is being held without bail and is due at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on Friday, August 14th.
