HESPERIA-(VVNG.com):  On Thursday, March 5th just before 9:00 a.m. deputies responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 18000 block of Yucca St.  The female victim had been out-of-town for approximately two months and returned to an occupied home.

Deputies arrived on scene, making contact with the occupants that said they rented the home about two weeks prior from a male, Bryan Fakkema, 45 that lived down the street. The occupants, after speaking with the deputies made arrangements to remove themselves and their property from the home.

Through investigation, it was discovered that the occupants rented the partially furnished home, also containing appliances that the renters traded for one of their vehicles. According to the homeowner, she left her home fully furnished in January.
On March 18th after the renters were made aware of the situations, they went to the suspect’s home to pick up the vehicle that they traded for the household items. Fakkema contacted law enforcement to keep the peace for what he believed was a civil matter. Deputies arrived to the home of Fakkema and arrested him on Burglary, Possession of stolen property and grand theft.

The suspect was booked at High Desert Detention Center and later transferred to West Valley Detention Center. Fakkema is due to return to court on Monday, March 23rd.

On March 19, 2015 at approximately 9:55 a.m., deputies served a search warrant at Fakkema’s residence and a storage unit rented in Fakkema’s name.  Deputies located a 26’ travel trailer stolen out of Apple Valley and most of the items reported stolen from victim’s home on Yucca St. The recovered property has been released to the victims.
