Hesperia Man arrested after stabbing cat for being ‘spoiled’

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — An intoxicated husband was arrested after he allegedly stabbed the family cat for being ‘spoiled’, officials said.

It happened at about 4:07 pm, on Tueday, September 11, 2018, in the 19200 block of Monterey Street in Hesperia.

According to Edgar Moran Service Specialist with the Hesperia Sheriffs Station, deputies responded to a domestic call where a wife stated her husband stabbed their cat.

Deputies responded to the residence and made contact with the suspect, identified as Mark Tyree, 59, of Hesperia.

“Through investigation officers determined Tyree was intoxicated, grabbed the family cat and then stabbed the cat because according to Tyree, the cat was ‘spoiled’,” stated Moran.

Tyree was arrested for PC597 Animal Cruelty. According to Moran, Tyree wasn’t booked into the High Desert Detention Center due to high blood pressure. He was taken to a local hospital to get treatment and he was cite-released at the hospital.

The cause will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review.
