Hesperia Lake Park Reopens After Storm Damage Closure, Visitors Report Clean Conditions

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Hesperia Lake Park has officially entered a soft opening phase, with visitors already reporting clean water conditions and a well-maintained park environment.
The park reopened on April 15, 2026, after being closed to the public for over three months.
The closure followed a severe winter storm in December 2025 that caused significant damage to multiple district facilities, according to a written community update released March 10.
District officials said the storm impacted Percy Bakker Community Center, Timberlane Park, and Hesperia Lake Park, all of which serve as important gathering spaces for local programs, events, and recreation.

As previously reported by VVNG, the park remained fenced off for weeks with no confirmed reopening date as recovery efforts continued.
As part of the soft opening, visitors can once again enjoy the park’s green space and lake views. However, several amenities remain unavailable, including the lake store, fishing access, equestrian center, and the John Swisher Community Center, according to a written statement from the district.
Fishing at the lake is currently not permitted, though officials say plans are in place to allow fishing in the near future.

The playground at Hesperia Lake Park, which was under repair at the time of reopening, is now fully open.
The district announced, “We are thrilled to announce that the playground at Hesperia Lake Park and Live Oak Park is officially OPEN! We know it’s been a wait, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during the closure. Now, it’s time to get back out there and play!”
Timberlane Park and Live Oak Park also reopened on April 15. Playground repairs at Live Oak Park have since been completed, restoring full access for families and visitors.

Officials thanked the community for its patience during the extended closure, noting that the work was necessary to safely restore park facilities. Early visitors have since shared positive feedback, highlighting the lake’s clean appearance and the park’s overall improved condition.
Hesperia Lake Park, located at 7500 Arrowhead Lake Road, is generally open daily for day use from dawn to dusk.
