HESPERIA-(VVNG.com): On February 5th at approximately 8:30 p.m. a bystander witnessed a traffic collision near Farmington Road and Cottonwood Avenue. The report indicated that a 2002 Dodge Neon hit a parked vehicle. The reporting party was able to provide detailed information as to the direction of travel and the vehicle description.
A deputy arrived in the area within minutes, located the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver failed to yield, fleeing westbound on Ranchero Road at a high rate of speed. The driver continued into residential areas in the south-west Hesperia area. The suspect vehicle was disabled on a dirt road causing the male suspect to flee on foot into the desert area near the railroad tracks and Farmington.
An extensive search was conducted facilitating a Sheriff’s helicopter and ground units from Hesperia and the Victor Valley Stations, but the suspect was still able to escape. At this time the driver is still outstanding, deputies are attempting to identify and locate the driver through vehicle registration and other evidence located inside of the vehicle.
During the search for the suspect residents were contacted and were helpful in allowing deputies to search in backyards and vehicles in the general area.
